Right before the holidays, our kitchen remodel was completed. They got started right after Thanksgiving, and I gave our contractor a deadline of December 23rd so it would be done in time for Rosen’s birthday party. They finished it on the 22nd, so it was just in time.
We are so pleased with how it turned out. We didn’t do anything to the cabinets, other than change the knobs from gold to brushed nickel. We replaced all the countertops with granite, had the backsplash redone, and got all new stainless steel appliances. We also painted the walls a light gray color.
Like a dummy, I accidentally deleted all my “before” photos of the kitchen. Luckily, we still had one from the real estate listing that shows what the kitchen looked like:
As you can see, it was a little dated.
Here are the “after” photos of the kitchen:
After they finished up with the kitchen, Michael and my dad put beadboard on the backside of the kitchen island on on the ends of the lower cabinets. It was just a plain white board before.
We are both so happy to have our kitchen done! It was the one thing we weren’t crazy about when we first looked at our house. It suits our taste much better now!
Hi Stephanie
Your new kitchen looks fabulous – the chrome tap is stunning. We are currently renting a house with a particularly “bad” kitchen so am completely jealous. A gorgeous kitchen is most definitely top of my wish list for our next house.

Thanks so much, Kate! The updated kitchen definitely makes our house feel more like home. I hope you get your fabulous kitchen in your next house!
Beautiful! I’d love my kitchen to look like the “before,” but the after… spectacular! If we stay in our current house, I think we’ll redo the kitchen. I’d love to have white cabinets and marble countertops – it would be so much brighter.
I’m sure you’re really enjoying the new look!
Thanks so much, Lauren! I am definitely enjoying it!
Love the kitchen, the splash back tiles and counters are gorgeous ! Just a few changes and it seems really fresh and the breadboard really finishes it off beautifully.
Thanks so much, Libby!
Wow! That looks just fabulous! I love your choices!
Thanks so much, Sarah!
The kitchen turned out beautiful! My hubby and I are thinking of painting our kitchen cabinets white but we weren’t sure what to do with the sides. Putting beadboard on the ends is a great idea–I pinned one of the images so we can do this too. Thanks for the great idea!!!
I’m so glad you liked the idea! Thanks for stopping by!
It looks brilliant!
Thanks so much, Katie!
Wow! Your kitchen looks great. I love the back splash!
Thanks, Amy!
I love the idea. I am such a do it yourselfer and this is just wonderfully fabulous. How awesome and creative of you to come up with that design. Way to go and bonus points for making your dream kitchen come to life.
It is amazing how little touches can greatly improve the space. Those wainscoting really adds texture to the kitchen surfaces.
