I’m always on the lookout for ideas to keep Rosen busy at home. She gets bored so easily, so I like to try and throw in some unique activities throughout the day.
Pinterest has been an immense help in coming up with ideas. I recently ran across this activity that uses a colander and pipe cleaners to allow your child to experiment with bending and sticking the pipe cleaners through the colander holes.
It wasn’t really an idea that immediately made me think, I must try this! but I saw a cheap pack of pipe cleaners at Walmart, and already had a colander, so I figured, why not?
I got it all set up for Rosen while she was napping. I actually quite enjoyed bending and weaving the pipe cleaners all over the colander. It was a nice, mindless and calming activity for mama
I think I went a bit overboard and used the whole pack.
Anyway, after she woke up and had her afternoon snack, I took her over to the colander and let her do her thing. Unfortunately, it only provided a good 3 minutes or so of entertainment. Rosen loved pulling the pipe cleaners out, but got frustrated trying to stick them back in. She ended up just wanting to throw the colander around.
Oh well…can’t win them all. At least I got a few cute photos out of it.
Anyone know of any other good uses for pipe cleaners?

What a fun fun idea!!! She is too precious!
Thanks, Tamar!
Cute pictures, indeed! She’s adorable and that is a cute idea. Maybe try it again a little later on. Maybe it won’t be frustrating when she can stick them back in.
Happy WW!

Thanks, Traci!
Thats a great idea. I bet Jackson would have fun with that. He gets bored so often at home too. I can always use a fun idea for him.
Thanks, Amy!
Looks like a great camera you have. Beautiful pictures! Beautiful girl!
What a great idea – and so much fun for the little ones.
One immediate thing I can think of for pipe cleaners – to attach beautiful pomander flower arrangements at the ends of pews or chairs to line an aisle at a wedding.
Thanks, Lisa! That’s a good pipe cleaner idea!
Haha! I was just looking at this idea the other day thinking if we should try it. Glad I saw it in action
Thanks for stopping by, Julia!
That is too cute. Love your house too!
Thanks, Tess!
Ha…how clever is that!? Love it. My boys have always loved pipe cleaners. They love wrapping them around toys, pencils, etc. I find them everywhere.
Thanks, Dina!
What a cute idea!
Thanks, Patrice!
I used to make little bugs out of pipe cleaners. I am sure if you googled it you could see all the different type of bugs you could make – from easy to a bit more advance. But I think I was in grade two when I did that craft, so I am not sure if it would be too hard. But maybe you guys could make it together?
That’s a good idea!! Thanks, Emily!
Come link up with me at NanaHood.com I love the pipe cleaners and collander idea but love your little sweetie more! She’s adorable!
Thanks, Terea!
