I was pretty crazy about Cabbage Patch Kids growing up. I got my first one for Christmas when I was around a year old. Her name was Ivy. I know most Cabbage Patch Kids come with a first and middle name, but I don’t recall what Ivy’s middle name was.
I got several other Cabbage Patch Kids over the years. When I was a little older, I even got to take a trip to the Babyland General Hospital, which is located here in Georgia where they originated, and got to adopt the doll of my choosing. It was pretty exciting. However, none of those dolls had the staying power of Ivy, who stuck around through my entire childhood. I don’t even remember any of their names, and they’re all long gone now.
When we were staying with my parents last summer, I came across Ivy in the basement. I was pretty excited to find one of my all time favorite toys, and even more excited that I could now share her with Rosen.
It’s pretty awesome to see Rosen playing with Ivy. I love that even with all the new high tech toys that are available, dolls never go out of style.
Ivy’s still in surprisingly good condition, and I think she just might be able to make it through another childhood
.
Here I am with Ivy around Christmas ’86

How special!! I loved my cabbage patch kids and can’t wait for my future kiddos to play with them!
Thanks, Tamar!
Oh wow…this is just priceless!
Thanks so much, Susan!
That is so cool that you could pass down one of your favorite dolls to Rosen. I loved cabbage patch kids as a child too. My sister and I had a few between the two of us and would play house with them.
Thanks, Amy!
So cool! I remember my Cabbage Patch dolls, too… I’m pretty sure I have one or two floating around my parents’ house, too. I went to the doll hospital when I was a kid, too – I remember loving it. And getting this yellow shirt with the Cabbage Patch logo on the front. It got all nubby, but I still loved it.
Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
Thanks, Lauren! That’s awesome that you remember going to the Babyland Hospital, too
Ahhhh, cabbage patch I kids. Thanks for reminding me. Mine was named Jennifer. I loved Jennifer
No problem! That’s great that you remember her name
My daughter is currently the proud owner of my dolls house from when I was little. It is 30+ years old and she loves it

Thanks, Katie! That’s a bummer that you didn’t get to grow up with a CPK

What a treasure to gift to such a cutie!! How fortunate for both Rosen and Ivy. Life is good.
