Rosen’s speech has been improving like crazy this past month. She’s started stringing words together, but usually just two words at a time. The first time we noticed it, Michael ran outside to take out the garbage and when he came back in she said, “Dada back.” She’s been using a few other similar phrases. She also really loves to point to everything and say what it is.
Her favorite thing to say right now is “sure.” She’s replaced her usual “yeah” with it, and it’s pretty darn cute because she usually says it with a lot of enthusiasm. I’ll ask her if she wants to go somewhere, like to the park or the store, and she responds with a loud, “Sure!”
It seems like a lot of things are really starting to click for her this past month. We usually play kid apps on the iPad before bed, and certain apps that were a little too hard for her before, are now enjoyable for her. She’s really starting to identify her letters and numbers, and can drag her shapes into their corresponding shaped holes. Her favorite app right now is Endless Alphabet, which has a lot of word puzzles where you drag the letters to spell out certain words. It’s so fun to watch these little developments!
I think she’s still having trouble understanding that she’s going to have a little brother soon. A few weeks ago I said her little brother was in my belly, and she lifted up my dress to look underneath. Good thing we weren’t in public. She likes to rub my belly a lot and say “baby” so at least she understands a bit on some level.
She absolutely loves playing with sports balls. Anyone who brings a ball with them to the playground better watch out, because Rosen will try to play with it. She’s made a lot of friends that way though, and is actually pretty good at kicking and throwing the ball back and forth with other kids. She can’t catch yet, but she’ll run after it, grab it, and throw or kick it back. Maybe she’ll be interested in playing soccer one day.
She’s really been a lot more easygoing and playful this past month. We’ve been having a lot of fun together, and taking her places is a lot more enjoyable. Her tantrums have been few and far between lately, but there’s no telling how long that will continue. I’ll certainly enjoy it while it lasts!
