We celebrated Rosen’s birthday a week early this year. With my due date a day after her actual birthday, I didn’t want to risk planning a big shindig, and then have to cancel if I went into labor, so we decided to just celebrate with family at Chuck E. Cheese’s.
It worked out quite well. We had 17 people with just our families, and Rosen got enough presents to last her all year! It was so much fun to see how excited she was for her birthday this year. Last year she wasn’t really aware of what was going on, but this year, she couldn’t stop talking about how she would have a birthday cake with candles she could blow out, and that she’d get to open lots of presents. And that there would be balloons. She may have been most excited about the balloons. Every time she saw a Chuck E. Cheese’s commercial on TV, she would yell, “Party!” She definitely knew what was going on, and that made it all the more fun.
To make it fit in with our Advent activities, I had our elf, Fiddles, send her a message directing her to get some practice opening presents at her birthday party so she’d be ready for Christmas. Our day was just too busy to plan a Christmas activity too. Rosen was more than happy to oblige, and I don’t think she noticed my copout ;-).
I can’t believe this girl is about to be 2!
